Last Friday The New Takhoman printed the
second story in a series
of Paul Malone investigations
about escort services operating
in Tacoma
without city licensing
and oversight.
What follows is the third installment of
what can only be called
an unregulated sex
for hire cliffhanger.
A week had gone by.
No word from Councilwoman Connie.
Alaska Street escort service fifteen years
in business. City of Tacoma
tax coffers zero.
Politicians move slow.
I don’t.
My name is Paul Malone. I publish a Sin City
expose several council members claim they
don’t read.
Politicians are also liars.
I punched 253-475-5332 into the Ameche.
A woman answered.
“Good evening. How may I help you”, she purred.
Told her I saw their ad in the Trib. Said
I needed some arm candy
for a formal gig.
“We don’t do parties”, the kitten meowed.
“We only do one-on-one.”
She rang off.
I’d been handed a hairball.
The blower sprung a leak. “Tacoma Confidential
off the record, on the
Q.T. and very confidential”,
I intoned.
“Hey Malone! Ya ready for more dirt on how
Allicia’s operates?”
It was Bud White. He’s one canary that doesn’t
need bird seed to sing.
I’m Paul Malone and I’m listening”, I razzed.
He proceeded to give me the low down.
“You have an owner, a manager and phone operators.
Simple, clean and neat
Malone. The operator
screens the calls. She
asks your name, address
and phone number. If you
don’t proceed their
response is a quick hang-up.
If the information
is provided, they call
back after verifying
your answers.
“Voila! You’re in their records. Now you
simply have to state your
name and give a
credit card number to get
laid. It’s clear
they know who you are and
where you live.
If you’re inclined to rat
them out you’d
take the heat of having
used a prostitution
service.”
I let him rattle on. The man knows his stuff.
“Next you’re given the descriptions of girls
in as much detail as you
desire. Fleur-de-lis?
Verified customers can
ask for specific sexual
services of any explicit
nature. The more
bizarre the services the
more likely management
would be contacted with
the request.”
White took his tableau to the next step.
“The next level is the drivers or ‘bodyguards’.
They zip the prostitutes
around town to perform
sexual acts with several
different men during
the evening. On arrival
she is required to
call in to verify that
she has arrived and
to confirm the situation
is safe. Ergo the
bodyguard doesn’t have
to bust the door down.
While she’s there, there’s
an implied threat
that some thug is lurking
outside the door.
Once the services are complete,
she calls
back for the bodyguard
to come pick her up.
Specific records are kept
as to who you screwed
and your sexual preferences.”
For a man in my position those records would
be a goldmine of Wendell
Brown civic service.
White continued to spew. No hairballs here.
“Charge for services is $160 an hour. The
woman performing these
services receives
$80. That’s substantially
better than working
at Mickey D’s. Twenty goes
to the driver
and the remainder goes
to the escort service.
These women also have a
chance to make tips.
I suspect the tips are
based on the willingness
to engage in bizarre sex
acts.”
I asked White if these people hadn’t heard
of inflation and the Consumer
Price Index
as he said he was quoting
2001 prices.
He said the charges on the credit card show
up as some security service.
“See if your
wife or boss can swallow
that hairball”,
he spat.
“This has to be a big dollar industry. They
take out large phone book
ads and put ads
in the local newspaper.
These are expensive.
“On a good night one of
these girls could
take in up to $800. But
the implications
of what that money represents
are disgusting.
This industry rewards promiscuity
and the
willingness to degrade
oneself. I wonder
how a woman could even
do such a job without
drugs.”
Bud the true defender of women to the end.
“Unless caught red-handed, the owners of
such a service would deny that these girls
are being sent for sexual activities. They
try to pose themselves as being a regular
escort service. That explains the contracts
the girls sign when they are hired. They
indicate that they could be fired if they
engage in acts of prostitution. They sign
the contract while at the same time management
is encouraging them to engage in sexual acts.
Another excuse would be that we just send
the girls out and it’s a decision between
consenting adults as to whether or not to
have sex. However such a defense as a contract
really does not pass the lab rat test. What
can be said about this industry and this
place in particular is that it is simply
organized crime. Did I hear RICO, TPD? Is
there such a thing as a legitimate escort
service? Allicia’s Escort Service has had more than
one brush with the law
and should be known
to our local law enforcement
agencies. In
fact, this particular escort
service was
publicly entangled in a
very heinous murder.”
Coming next Friday is The Roberta Elmore
case; a story of manipulation,
murder, and
perjury; a crime of conspiracy
to commit
murder emulating from the
crime of sex for
money.
Respectfully submitted by
Paul Malone
